2016 RHP/INF Gregory Veliz has committed to the University of Miami!!!!
Gregory is the newest commit that joins a long list of Elite Squad players heading to Coral Gables to play for the Canes. Gregory started with the Elite Squad program when he was just 14 years old. Actually, the first time we saw Gregory was at our annual tryout when he was 13 years old and in 7th grade. We new that he was going to be a special player from the first time we saw him.
Because of his unbelievable work ethic to go along with his talent, Gregory attracted a lot of attention this fall when he ran his fastball up to 93mph! Although, Gregory has shown he’s one of the best pitchers in the 2016 class. He’s also one of the premier hitters in that class. Since he joined our program he has played INF for us and hit in the middle of the lineup for our teams. This year will be no different on how much he is counted upon, both on the mound and in the lineup. We are very proud to have been able to see the improvement year in and year out because of his work ethic and in return see him commit to his dream school.
