SF Elite Squad Red 16u

SF Elite Squad Red got on the board early and never looked back in a 6-0 win over the East Cobb Yankees.  SF Elite was led by 2014 Dallas Perez (Pembroke Pines, FL, American Heritage) who went 3-3 in the game, with an RBI, and two steals.  Perez has a strong, athletic body and is a good all around player.  He runs the bases very well and has a sound hitting approach with good power.  2014 Edgar Badaraco Jr (Pembroke Pines, FL, American Heritage) also had two hits and drove in a run in the game for SF Elite.  Badaraco Jr is solid defensively behind the plate and has a fluid stroke at the dish.

2014 Freddie Sultan (Weston, FL, University School) took the mound for SF Elite and pitched five scoreless innings and struck out six batters.  The lefty allowed just four hits and did a good job of throwing strikes.  Sultan throws a 72-75mph fastball and likes to use off-speed pitches often.  Sultan has a good curveball and mixes in a change-up as well.

Leading the charge at the dish for the Elite was 5-hole hitter 3B Matt Fierman (2014, Coral Springs Christian Academy, FL) who collected 2 hits, including a double, and drove in 1 of his team’s 2 RBIs. Fierman would also pull double duty and gave a nice effort in the closing role. He would cede 2 hits and 1 ER in 1.2 innings while putting down 3 of his 5 outs via strikeout. Fierman relied on his 80-84 FB hitting 84, a 71 CB, and 72-75 SL.

Michael Brenner (2014, Bucky Dent Academy, Boca Raton, FL) doubled and finished 2-3 with 3 RBIs for SF Elite. Brenner had an athletic, projectable frame. Chandler Cissel (2014, Pine Crest HS, Pembroke Pines, FL) had 2 RBIs in the loss.

SF Elite Squad Red scored three runs in the first two innings and three more in the last two innings as they defeated Hit N Run Baseball 6-0.

Mark Nowatnick (2014, Cardinal Gibbons HS, Ft. Lauderdale, FL) pitched a complete game shut-out. Nowatnick surrendered just one hit and one walk. He had good command, outstanding arm speed, and life on his FB as he struck out 8. His fastball was ranging between 83-85mph and touched 87mph.

Tyler Norris (2014, Cardinal Gibbons HS, Pembroke Pines, FL) had a confident approach and showed off some good bat speed as he went 3-3 for SF Elite.  Norris doubled and had 1 RBI. Brady Acton (2014, St. Thomas HS, Pembroke Pines, FL) also doubled and he batted 2-4 with 1 RBI.

SF Elite Squad Red record a 5-1 win over the Frozen Ropes Thornton thanks to solid pitching efforts by Tyler Norris (2014, Cardinal Gibbons HS, Pembroke Pines, FL) & Craig Olson (2014, Cardinal Gibbons HS, Pembroke Pines, FL).  Norris pitched five innings surrendering five hits and no runs. He competed on the mound, was around the plate with all pitches, and had life on his FB.  He had sound mechanics and attacked hitters as he struck out 7. The speed on his fastball was consistent between 80-84mph with a peak of 85mph.  Olson relieved and threw the final two frames. Olson showed control on both sides of the plate and also had sound mechanics. He allowed one run on just one hit and struck out 2.

Aaron Haughton (2014, St. Petersburg HS, St. Petersburg, FL) went 2-3 with 2 RBIs for SF Elite.

Elite Squad White 16u:

For SF Elite Squad Joseph Acosta (2014, Belen Jesuit, FL) was 2-3 at the dish. Acosta showed off his power potential hitting a double in the game and driving in one run. Acosta also showed off his speed stealing one base in the game and scoring one of SF Elite’s three runs.

SF Elite got 2 hits from Zack Kone (2015, Pine Crest, FL) to lead his team at the plate.

The SF Elite Squad White used a 4-run 4th to dominate the Jersey Seminoles, 7-1, in rout.

The Elite bats’ were led by 2 and 3-hole hitters SS Zack Kone (2015, Pine Crest HS, FL) and 3B Joseph Acosta (2014, Belen Jesuit HS, FL) who each tallied 2 hits apiece. Kone would add a run scored while bringing home 3 RBIs. Acosta one upped Kone by scoring working the bags for 2 runs scored.

In a team effort on the mound it was starter TJ Williams who started off well allowing just 1 hit and 1 ER in 2 innings of duty. He’d get the job done with his 78-81 FB hitting 81 and 68 CB. Following was middle reliever RHP Raymond Apruzzese (2014, St. Thomas HS, FL) who also pitched 2 innings but gave up just 1 hit while surrendering 0 ER. He pitched effectively with his 78-82 FB hitting 82.

The SF Elite Squad White got a win today be defeating So Call NTT 16u by a final score of 5-2. The Elite received a sound pithing performance by Andy Rohloff (2014, Monarch, FL). Rohloff threw 5 innings and gave up 2 earned runs while scattering 6 hits. He struck out 9 and walked none in the game. Rohloff’s fastball consistently ranged from 82-85 mph.

At the plate for the Elite, David Vilar (2015, American Heritage, FL) led the way. Vilar collected 2 hits and finished the game 2-3 with 1 run scored. Joseph Acosta (2014, Belen Jesuit, FL) had a triple in the game for the Elite.

The SF Elite Squad White scored at least 2 runs in all 4 innings on offense. They had an 8-0 lead built up after 2 innings. They connected for 10 hits as a team on their way to defeating the New York Grays 16u 13-1.

Zack Kone (2015, Pine Crest, Boca Raton, FL) was 2-3 with a double, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored for the SF Elite. Joseph Acosta (2014, Belen Jesuit, Miami, FL) had a big day at the plate going 2-3 with a Home Run, 4 RBI’s, and 1 run scored. Acosta has a sound hitting approach, makes line drive contact, and has power potential. Dominic DiCaprio (2015, Stoneman Douglas, Coral Springs, FL) was 1-1 with 1 RBI. Behind the plate DiCaprio showed good catch and throw potential and good arm strength.

Christopher Koppenhaver (2014, Pine Crest, Davie, FL) pitched 1 inning and earned the win for the Elite. He threw 66.7% of his pitches for strikes. He showed good mound presence and an online delivery. Koppenhaver has projectable stuff and a fastball that was 82-86 mph. He also showed a mid-70’s changeup.

Joseph Acosta (2014, Belen Jesuit, Miami, FL) was 2-3 with a double for the SF Elite Squad White. Carlos Cartaya Jr. (2014, Archbishop McCarthy, Pembroke Pines, FL) was 1-2 with a double. Juan Martinez (2014, Chaminade, Pembroke Pines, FL) was 1-2 with 1 RBI.
