For the second time this summer, the Elite Squad boys took home the championship trophies in their respective age division. This time at the Florida Scout Ball/ Mizuno State Championship.

Both the 14u and 16u Prime claimed the titles on Sunday with a record of 6-0 and 7-0 in the 16u Division. Although perfect records, both Squads had their challenges getting to the title game. In the 14u Division our Prime took on the 14u Select in what was a competitive back and forth affair. Elite Squad Select rallied from behind to score 3 in the top of the seventh to make it a one run game before the final out was made propelling the 14u Prime with a 5-4 win and moving on to the championship game. The Prime would take on Florida Burn 14u Pennant and would win 2-1 in front of a masterful performance on the mound and going the distance for the win by 2019 RHP Cosi Cinta.

Like the 14u team, the semi-final proved to be a big test for the 16u team. They played a talented Scorpions 2018 team and the game would go into extra innings to determine a winner. After being down most of the game, the Squad rallied to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to tie the game up. With 1 out in the top of the 7th with runners in scoring positions, head coach Scott Morrison summed 2017 INF/RHP Joe Perez to record the final two outs. Joe did just that running his fastball to 93mph!! The 16u Squad was able to score the final run when Max Pinto singled Anthony Boix home. Perez was able to close the door in the top of the 8th inning to get the W.

In the championship game the Squad was able to break it open in the 5th inning over the Florida Pokers to lead them to an 8-4 Victory and the 2nd Championship of the summer for both 16u and 14u Prime.

16u Prime captured their first victory of the summer during the PG Memorial Day tournament and 14u is coming off of winning the Vero beach Classic in their last tournament.

Congratulations to all of our teams for a great showing in Kissimmee!!
