First Weekend In The Books

The Elite Squad program took its teams to Fort Myers to participate in the Perfect Game Memorial Day Tournament. In years past, Elite Squad has hosted a small local tournament during the same time just to play some games, but just playing games wasn’t enough. After a few years, we realized that by going away, having kids in a hotel, in a way forced them to bond and get to know each other pretty quick.

That’s exactly what happened the past two years since we have taken our teams to Fort Myers. Speaking to all the coaches they admitted the first few games the boys didn’t exactly look comfortable with each other (which is expected) and as the weekend went on you saw them interact more with each other and ultimately  the play on the field reach another level. The Coaches also admitted they wished we had more games to play over the weekend because of this, and how much improvement each of them made as the weekend went on. As we have preached to the boys and will continue to do so, Chemistry Wins.

Although we are very pleased about it, we can sit here brag about the impressive win loss record as a whole organization but that wasn’t the goal. In the first weekend ever playing together as teammates, the Elite Squad organization captured what they set out to do. Get to know each other, form a bond and get better as a team. Even though it wasn’t our goal to go out and “win it all” the accomplishment from the 17u Prime and 16u Prime shouldn’t go un noticed. Those boys battled all weekend long and formed that quick bond we all talk about. Congratulations to those players and coaches for an exciting start to the summer as well!!

We cant tell you how excited we are for the rest of the summer. Our boys have surely created a buzz to start the summer with Colleges across the country!
